Our library was set up in name of "a privatized governmental organization" by the Kaohsiung Municipal Library and the Kaohsiung Association of Mentally Retarded on the 17th of October 1993. We serve mainly for mental-disordered children. In addition, pre-school children aged from 3 to 6 years old can also apply for membership We provide toy, book borrowing, and a specialized field consultation like language, painting, and recover, etc.

The Reference Room for Study Abroad in south of Taiwan

The reference room, supported by the Ministry Education, was instituted in January of 1988. It was transferred to the Second Branch Library in 1999. Worldwide overseas study information is accessible to the public, introducing the status of colleges, departments, curricula and application procedures. Apart from this, it also provides students with the background information of overseas studies, overseas study journals, information on associations of Chinese students, reference materials offered by other education centers, location of American, British and Australian schools and Chinese language overseas textbooks published by domestic publishers. The room also arranges serial speeches concerning study abroad regarding the overseas study and consulting seminars hosted periodically.

The Law Reference Room

In 15 August 1999, it set up in the Xin Xing Branch Library, collecting new and old separate regulations, Laws of the Republic of China, the Complete Volume of Six Laws, a monthly publication of the laws and decrees, Taiwan Law Review, and the written court verdict of all different levels of the Hall of Justice.

Kaohsiung Document Office

In May 1, 1999. move to the Xin Xing Branch Library, the documents offered by the Kaohsiung Municipal Documents Comm-ittee are located in the main library reading room.
The books collected are mainly publications from the committee, including the annals of Kaohsiung, documents periodicals and a series of document books. The office also collects annals of Taipei, Taiwan province, other cities, government offices and relevant periodicals. In addition,it offers a reading and copy service in the main library.

Mainland China Collection Office

In August 1996, the main library established the "Special Bookcase of Mainland China Collection" in the reference room. In November 1997, the main library expanded the bookcase to be the "Mainland China Collection Office" in its reading room. In June 25, 2000, it was transferred to the Sanmin Branch library,collecting economic, trade and academic materials published by mainland China and offering a reading and copy service in the main library.

Document Room for the Blind

In July 1991, the room was established in Hsinhsing branch library (Minsheng 1st Rd.) Braille books and video books (tapes and CDs) are available for borrowing, returning and other services. It is also equipped with aural study tables and chairs, tap e recorders, tape players and earphones for blind readers.

Government Publication Office

The office is in the Tsoying branch library, collecting trademark bulletins, standard bulletins, paten bulletins and government publications. Currently, services of reading and copying are open to the public.

The Reference for Comic

The office set up in the Yan Cheng Branch Library in September 1999 collects caricatures. Each copy of the caricatures has one duplicate, one available at this reference office and the other one at the front desk.
