【Reported from Kaohsiung】On December 18, the Kaohsiung Public Library (KPL) signed an MOU with the National Kaohsiung Normal University (NKNU), cementing their plans for a three-year partnership to create a new future with AI smart library services. Their collaboration aims to combine KPL’s expertise in service and NKNU’s potential for technological research and development to bring innovative breakthroughs for lifelong education.

“KPL’s plans for the future focus on constructing webs of knowledge, cross-disciplinary and cross-sector collaborations, and smart technology,” KPL Director Chin-Yang Lee remarked. “Through our partnership, we hope that NKNU will be able to lend us technological talents and information from their research. With such resources, both parties will work together to create a new future for reading. We aim to use smart technology to enhance service knowledge and quality and create an AI-powered smart library that best suits future demands.”

According to NKNU President Cheng-Yen Wang, the university’s collaboration with KPL is not simply about combining education and technology but also an essential practical step in sharing social resources. “NKNU looks forward to working together with KPL and to sharing the results of our technological research and development for public services,” said President Wang. “Such efforts will bring much value and convenience to the society.”

The signing of the MOU signifies a new milestone that marks the beginning of KPL and NKNU’s journey to crafting smart library services. Through the MOU, both parties hope to work together through prosperous, beneficial, and amicable collaborations in the future. Above all, they hope to construct a solid foundation for lifelong education together.

KPL has dedicated itself to providing diverse reading resources and social education services. In addition, KPL has consistently advocated for promoting knowledge popularization and cultural inheritance. As one of Kaohsiung's most important cultural institutions, KPL’s mission is to “plant the seeds of knowledge and establish links between communities.” Having continuously innovated its service modes, KPL is committed to becoming a paragon for libraries in the age of smart technology.
