Martin Berendse has recently been appointed Chief Executive of Public
Library Amsterdam (OBA), after a career in marketing consultancy,
management of performing arts organizations, national cultural policy
and archives management. In 2010 he has been elected president of the
International Council on Archives (ICA), sister body of IFLA.
He feels that all aspects of his previous activities now are combined
in his new position in the OBA, a network of libraries in and around
Amsterdam, amongst which the new (2007) central library of famous
Dutch architect Jo Coenen.
