Mr. Shih Chun Fu is the Director of Kaohsiung public library which includes 1 main library and 62 branch

libraries, 331 employees, 1,523,177,000 operating budget in 2014. Build 14 libraries in his tenure of office, in

which Dadong Arts Library has won the Recognition of Academic Excellence by the Ministry of Education, and

Zuo Xin branch obtained honors with the Annual Library and the Public Library Southern Region Resource

Center has completed and opened. During his incumbency, more than 20 library branches were renovated, and

the public check-out rate and book circulation are also improved.
 

Kaohsiung public library has won “the Fifth Government Service Quality Award of Executive Yuan,” “Special

Libraries and one of the 21 Excellent Libraries of Ministry of Education” in 2013, and “Active Social Education

Group Prize of Ministry of Education” in 2014. Mr. Shih was awarded “Distinguished Contribution Prize of

Library of Ministry of Education” in 2014.
 

In 2014, Global Views Monthly Magazine’s "National reading survey" revealed that the general reading

competitiveness of Kaohsiung was ranked second place among five municipalities, and our city's progress

is the most notable, also being evaluated “the Reading Oasis City.” Mayor Chen Chu is known as the most

important mayor of the Library Construction.
