During the spring festival of the rabbit year, Kaohsiung Main Public Library held its first spring festival market on the grass connected to the Cultural and Creative Industries Hall for two consecutive days from January 28th to 29th. Nearly 1000 people took part in the festival when the market opened up in the afternoon. There were more than 40 cultural and creative handicrafts and gourmet stalls and a variety of food trucks. In the outdoor plaza, there were 13 vendors who sold hot and delicious food, 10 stalls who offered light food and desserts, 20 original design brands, and 5 craftsmen for DIY activities. All was deeply loved by the public.

This year, Kaohsiung Main Public Library first launched a new-year market on the seventh and eighth day of the lunar calendar. There were 3 time slots and 5 kinds of experiences every day during the 2 days. Tickets for 240 experience activities sold out within 1 hour after they became available. There were also a variety of famous food in the market, such as "Auspicious Lion's Churros," "Happy Fried Sweet Potato Balls," "Warm Oden," "Joy Takoyaki," and "Vegetable Rolls" which were popular among vegetarians. In addition, there was a red envelope drawing and check-in event only for 100 citizens. People who checked in at the event site and hashtagged Kaohsiung Main Public Library and Siong-tián could draw a red envelope of NT20-50 dollar coupons for market consumption.

The DIY hand-made experience was jointly selected by Kaohsiung Main Public Library and the well-known cultural and creative market stall "Siong-tián." The public could make Chinese New Year ornaments made of air plants, traditional Japanese sacred ropes (Shimenawa) to pursue good fortune and avoid bad luck, or lovely new year's ornaments, and aroma stones in different shapes.

Many performances in the market were the highlights as well. From 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., performances were given in two areas. The grass area had guitar performances and picnics; the front square area had wonderful performing arts and excellent acrobatic performances which echoed the hot food at the market.

This year, Kaohsiung Main Public Library not only promoted reading, but also organized a variety of activities with Cultural and Creative Industries Hall. The event was extended from the first floor square to Century Asia, Bleu & Book, and TAi Urban Resort at Cultural and Creative Industries Hall, which enabled the public to immerse in the diverse reading space.
