How can I recommend books to the library?
1. Fill out a book recommendation form.
2. Recommend an e-book.
3. Contact our purchasing dept for large volume recommendation.
**Kaohsiung City Library Book Recommendation SOP (Starting December 9, 2013)
1. Due to a limited budget, each person can recommend up to 5 books per month.
2. The library will respond via email regarding the status of recommended books.
3. Book recommendation may be rejected if the recommended books do not match the library policy or the library already possess similar books. Common reasons for rejection include the following:
(1)Out of print.
(2)Repeated recommendation.
(3)Already purchased but in the process of filing.
(4)High price and over budget.
(5)Incomplete volume.
(6)Recommendation of notebooks, ring binders, diaries, exercise books, coloring books, sticker books, exam preparation guides, and materials with inappropriate content will not be accepted per library policy.
(7)Textbooks, religious books, romantic fictions, or books with inappropriate content.
(8)Recommendation for books with sequels (including comic books) is not accepted as they will be acquired through a separate purchasing procedure.
(9)Periodicals for the current year are usually purchased one year in advance. The final list is decided by each branch library while the Main Library makes the final purchase.
(10)Pop-up/movable books, toy books, and other reasons (example: the recommendation list is rigorously reviewed and priorities are given to books published in the past two years etc….)
4. Books will be transferred to other branch libraries if they do not fit the policy of a certain library.
