How to collect Kaohsiung City 0-2 Years Old Children Reading Box "Kaohsiung Babies Love Reading" (Siong-Ai-Thak-Tsheh):

The 2020 new book box has been fully distributed in cooperation with the Department of Health and the Maternity Inspection and Medical Institute in October to establish the important concepts of "early reading" and "parent-child reading" in Kaohsiung, so that every newborn family can use the voice that the baby is the most familiar with, as the initiator of the baby's reading.

Infants and toddlers can read, and they need to read!

More and more studies have shown that in addition to stimulating the sensory and cognitive development of infants and toddlers, reading can also cultivate the development of personality and social intelligence when accompanied by parents.

"Kaohsiung Babies Love Reading" ("Siong-Ai-Thak-Tsheh") has been the first reading box for infants which is distributed in various hospitals for prenatal checkups in Taiwan. In 2020, it features "Family Tours" with a picture book entitled "Going Out for Fun" and 14 nursery rhymes in 8 languages in "Multi-lingual Nursery Rhymes Collection" with an aim to encourage every parent of the newborn to guide his/her child to sing, read, and get to know how beautiful Kaohsiung is. KPL dedicates this reading box to newborns as the first gift in their life. It also promotes the concept that "the closest relationship is built upon stories parents tell their children" to help parents establish a harmonious relationship with their children.

【Content includes:】

"Kaohsiung Babies Love Reading" reading box features "parent-child outing" to continue the previous theme of "a happy day." In this reading box, parents lead their children to visit several distinctive libraries in Kaohsiung. Daily events, such as taking walks and picnics are incorporated with experiences exclusive to children in Kaohsiung (going to the beach and watching airplanes taking off and landing) to allow young children to relate to and connect with the landscape in their hometown.

Multilingual Nursery Rhymes Collection consists of 14 nursery rhymes in 8 languages, including Chinese, Taiwanese Hokkien, Hakka, English, Vietnamese and Indonesian. Amis and Bunun nursery rhymes are also included. Nursery rhymes are gifts for babies' ears. Listening to nursery rhymes together can facilitate interactions which fosters the emotional connection between parents and children. To accommodate the popularity of intelligent mobile devices and social media, KPL no longer provides the CD recording version. Instead, all the content can be downloaded from the official website of KPL or watched on YouTube, which allows parents to get access to and play them anywhere, anytime. The 21-minute nonstop nursery rhymes compilation can serve as the best subject matter when parents read bedtime stories every night.
