The "2022 Kaohsiung Reading Festival” has become the first joint venture between Kaohsiung Public Library and Bleu & Book Bookstore. The event lasted for more than a month and showcased the power of reading through nearly 100 events, such as lectures, markets, movies and music.

“Dreaming in the Library: Puppet & Its Double Theater-the Theater of Light, Shadow and Poetry”: for the first time, during the closing hours of the main library, visitors could experience the combination of puppets and light and shadow brought by the "Puppet & Its Double Theater", which was like stepping into the fantasy world of books. The finale of the "Literary Breakfast Meeting" was the "God morgen! The Norwegian Breakfast Table", brought by WuPaoChun Bakery and Norway's century-old Stangeland Mølle, at Bleu & Book Bookstore, where visitors could taste Norwegian bread, which is inseparable from Norwegian life, and savor Norwegian culture and life, creating their own "kose tid" comfortable time.

On the last weekend of the reading festival(Oct. 29-30), three speakers, Cheng Chiung-ming, Peng Rui-jin, and Li Zhi-chiang, who are also winners of the Kaohsiung Culture and Art Award, were invited to share their stories in different fields of creativity, criticism, and editing at Bleu & Book Bookstore.

Whether it was Cheng's poetry, Peng's literary criticism, the idea of organizing a magazine by the Literary Taiwan Foundation, or Li Zhi-chiang’s creative and film works, they all share the same passion for literature even though the directions might be different. In Li Zhi-chiang’s early years, he worked mostly in literary creation, but later on, he focused on screenwriting, directing, and other film and television projects, and his creations have shined in both literature and cinema. His works have been recognized both domestically and internationally, and in 2021, his "Tears on Fire" was nominated for multiple Golden Bell Awards in 2022. In this conversation, the speakers reviewed the past and future development of literature in Kaohsiung City, and discussed their literary ideas.

The last "Reading Salon" on Oct. 29 was a conversation between Chen Kun-lun, publisher of Chun-Hui Publish and First Publishing Co., and Chang Li-hsuan, associate professor of the Graduate Institute of Taiwan Literature at National Taiwan University in the Intertidal Zone on the 4th floor of the Main Library. In 1980, Chen Kun-lun founded Chun-Hui Publish in Kaohsiung and supported the publication of the magazine "Literary Taiwan" and the publication of Yeh Shih-tao's "A History of Taiwan Literature". From being a fan of Yeh Shih-tao to publishing a book for his idol, the figure of Chen Kun-lun constitutes moving scenes in the documentary film "Yeh Shih-tao, a Taiwan Man" directed by Hsu Hu-Lin. In this conversation, Chang Li-hsuan discussed the development of humanities publishing in Taiwan with Chen Kun-lun from the perspective of humanistic publication and shared her memories of the "Five Publishers" in Kaohsiung (Ta Yeh Bookstore, First Publishing Co.,, San-sin Publishing House, Grand Theater Book Store, and Chun-Hui Publish) that Chen said he used to manage.
