The Taiwan Reading Festival is a grand occasion in the library community, and the Kaohsiung Public Library (KPL) and its branches launched many events and held Taiwan Reading Festival@Kaohsiung to respond to it. Six themes were planned, including “Taiwan Reading Festival Book Fair”, “Little Readers”, “Mobile Libraries”, “Telling Stories on the Meadow is Green and Fun”, “Listening to Lectures Together” and “A Fun Tri to Independent Bookstores. In addition, this year, the library volunteer experience was launched before the International Volunteer Day.

KPL also deployed a mobile library at the Kaohsiung venue. On December 3 at 3:00 p.m., a science train stopped at the South Complex of National Science and Technology Museum; on December 4 at 10:30 a.m., a Southeast Asia mobile library stopped at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church. The "Youth Music Party on the Meadow" was held on December 11 at 2:30 p.m. on the meadow between the Main Library and the Cultural and Creative Hall, bringing together six clubs from five high schools in Kaohsiung. A few dozens of students performed on the stage one by one. For teenagers, they view reading as dull due to exams and studies. So KPL took this event to allow youth people to use music to flip their imagination of reading.

There were many other interesting lectures. On December 10 at 2:30 p.m., Charles Lee gave a talk on "Iceberg Dialogue" in the Ji Hui Auditorium of the Main Library. On December 17, Lai I-wei, co-founder of Numeracy Lab, an educational start-up company of National Taiwan Normal University, gave a talk on "The Power of Numeracy to Make Math Useful, Fun and Learnable" at 2:30 p.m. in the Ji Hui Auditorium of the Main Library.  Picture book creator LuckyLuLu also presented "I Want to Hide for a While" in the staircase mezzanine on the 3rd floor of the Main Library.

In response to the "2022 Taiwan Reading Festival Reading Carnival" held by the National Central Library, KPL presented the "Traveling Map Trail" on December 3 at the CKS Park in Taipei City, showcasing the three published works supported by KPL's first Picture Books Sprouting Awards, the history of the Picture Books Sprouting creative class and the enrollment information of the 2023 creative class. KPL's Yenchao Branch also displayed 3D printed puppets which belonged to Fun in Jujube Puppet Show Troupe, CNC sculpted rod puppets, local community picture books and e-books. The consulting service of the " Picture Books Sprouting Talent Support Project" was provided. With the cultural and creative board game "Three Treasures of Yenchao" and the related creative products of community picture books, it was hoped that more people could see the achievements of Kaohsiung's promotion of reading habits.
