The Yenchao Branch of Kaohsiung Public Library (KPL) organized an activity of promoting reading habits in Yenchao Kunniu Lake Community and guided the elders of the community led by the E-Da Hospital to create a picture book. Finally, "A New Life of Masked Protection" was successfully published. The picture book is illustrated by elders under the instruction of Ms. Tseng Hsiu-hui of the children's drawing class in the library. The community features and daily life are portrayed in this original picture book, which reflects the new life after the pandemic. The copies of the paper version of the book will be distributed to public libraries nationwide. In addition, a course will be held at the Digital Opportunity Center at the Yenchao Branch to guide the authors to make the picture book into a dynamic e-book for digital marketing to increase its visibility.

The launch was attended by Lin Yi-cheng, Acting Director of KPL, Dr. Chen Yu-chang from the Department of Family and Community Medicine of the E-Da Hospital, Li Shih-chang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kunniu Lake Community, and Lin San-tien, representative of the authors.

KPL has just been recognized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare's Aging Together Award, and it is the only public library to receive the award. It provides a full range of aging services through the integration of different areas of expertise and resources. The E-Da Hospital is also an organization which assumes its corporate social responsibility, working together with KPL to develop the quality of social welfare.

The sponsor of the book's publication, Yu Ting-yeh, was pleased to say that he was honored to contribute to this meaningful project, which he hoped would lay the foundation for the development of cultural heritage and further development of the community.

Lin Yi-cheng, Acting Director of KPL, said, "KPL is actively exploring community resources, acting as a center for community learning and arts development. By means of the collaboration with local charitable events, we can discover community needs and provide necessary services.”
