This year is the "Year of the Rabbit" in the lunar calendar. Kaohsiung Public Library (KPL) specially invited Cai Feng-ji, the chairman of the Taiwan Calligraphers Association of Kaohsiung City, and his team to write calligraphy. The team includes the famous calligraphers Chen Li-qing, Huang Jun-xiong, Wu Li-tai, and Jiang Jing-rong. At 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on January 14th, the event "Nice 兔(same sound of "to") Meet You. Welcome Rabbit Year. Books Give Away" will be held at the library. If you borrow 10 books on that day, you can get a gift voucher for a pair of spring festival couplets. There are also auspicious words and wishes on red paper to choose from. Readers are encouraged to participate in this event.

This year's auspicious inscription is "惠風和暢," which symbolizes "Auspiciousness and prosperity in the year of the rabbit." It is a blessing for readers of KPL, and this event intends to promote traditional art and enhance citizens' aesthetics.

On January 14th, the Taiwanese poet Zhou Su-zong gave a speech on "Taiwanese Poetry: Love in Kaohsiung ~ Bodhisattva Guanyin Poetry Collection." The first 50 readers who signed up for this event were given a copy of "Bodhisattva Guanyin Poetry Collection" along with an auspicious message "惠風和暢 (Soft breeze warms the hearts)." Zhou Su-zong is also a philanthropist. He has participated in many public welfare projects to help disadvantaged school children. When he was a child, his grandfather enlightened him on Taiwanese learning. He taught Zhou Su-zong 15 tones, 45 finals, 8 initials, and 7 tones of Taiwanese. Not until at the age of 60 did he begin to reacquaint himself with his mother tongue and learn to write poems in Taiwanese. He won the first place in modern poetry (society category) with "War Songs of Seqalu" at the 8th Taiwanese and Hakka Literary Award.

Yi-Cheng Lin, the acting director of KPL, said that the famous calligrapher's writing in our library is deeply loved by readers every year, and he looks forward to starting this new year with readers by empowering themselves with the knowledge.
