Located in the Dashu District of Kaohsiung City, the Chang Le Grand Theater (昌樂大戲院), which is over 60 years old, has become a nostalgic ruin after closing in 1987. This time, however, it has become the focus of attention because of a Taiwanese language program produced collaboratively by the Kaohsiung Public Library (KPL) and the Public Television Service Taigi Tele Station (PTS Taigi Tele Station). The program will air in October.

PTS Taigi Tele Station is adjacent to the KPL; thus, in terms of reading and absorbing knowledge and promoting the mother tongue, there will be a lot of room and diverse roles that the station and KPL can play. After all, it is very important for everyone to communicate freely in their native language, said KPL. It is hoped that local stories of Kaohsiung will be broadcast worldwide with the collaboration of language and audio-visual channels. This program plans to use Taiwanese to tell the stories of Kaohsiung's local culture, hoping to establish students' fundamental film and television professional skills, cultivate the next generation of Taiwanese audio-visual creative talents, enhance young people's Taiwanese expression skills, and apply Taiwanese language to creation and life and present the creation on the stage.

This summer, the Library and PTS Taigi Tele Station cooperated in the production of a Taiwanese program, the “Children's Book, Talk by Every Home,” inviting college students to form their own production teams and direct, write the script and produce a creative program based on the Taiwanese picture books. The team will collaborate to complete a five-minute online Taiwanese short drama. Since Taiwanese is required to be used throughout the process, it is quite challenging for today’s young college students.

Junior-level students from the I-Shou University Department of Film and Television laid out a perfect Taiwanese program production plan. They chose the Chang Yue Grand Theater as the background of the story, telling the story that the Chang Yue Grand Theater used to be the most prosperous area of Dashu. The theater could accommodate 700 people when it was full, but with the advent of videotapes, it declined amidst the waves of the times. Students played multiple roles, including actors, producers, directors, and photographers, demonstrating the alternative perspective of the youth watching the small people of the big time.
